Dynamic response of viscoelastic multiple-core sandwich structures

This work focuses on the free and forced vibrations of sandwich beams plates hosting an arbitrary number damping cores. A fractional derivatives Zener-type model is adopted for representing frequency-dependent viscoelastic behaviour, along with conventional series developments. The structural models are formulated within established variable kinematics approach, which enables to investigate role specific assumptions identify most accurate at a least degrees freedom. Approximate solutions found by computationally efficient Ritz method that allows take into account any type boundary conditions. Modal loss factors damped eigenfrequencies obtained from complex eigenvalue problem, modal strain energy approach or eigensolution can be employed. Frequency responses computed direct elementary projection algorithms. Results reported innovative configurations. Different modelling solution strategies compared transverse normal deformation mechanically weak plies particularly emphasised.
